DAF, Waste Sludge or Solid into Non-oily Dry Products
Background: Wastewater is a significant issue in food processing plants and city wastewater treatment plants. Oily dissolved air flotation (DAF) skimming, lagoon sludge, decanter solid, biosolid, and biomass are produced from wastewater treatments. The oily sludge materials may cause environmental problems to water, land and air.
Rigel's Processes: We have developed the patented processes (2002, 2008 and 2015) to process oily sludge materials or decanter solids into the non-oily dry encapsulated products with high fat level, which add more value and form non-oily dry particles.
#1) One process is to use a feed-grade protein ingredient to encapsulate oily sludge materials into a non-oily dry particle product. A dryer is needed. Its typical analysis is: fat 30%, protein 55% and moisture 6%.
#2) Another process is to encapsulate oily sludge materials with two feed-grade ingredients into a non-oily dry particle product. A dryer is needed. Its typical analysis is: protein 40-30%, fat 20-30% (depending on raw materials) and moisture 6%.
#3) Our third process is to convert DAF grease into a dry fat product with fat 85% and moisture <5%.
Manufacturing: The products have high fat levels. The above encapsulated products have been manufactured in our production facility. Our patented processes are used to convert above oily sludge materials into the non-oily and free-flowing fat products in dry particle form and add more value. Our product samples are available.
Applications:
The products are used as dry fat and protein ingredients for general animal feeds. For aquaculture feeds, the products have low gravity in water. For dairy animals, the products have bypass function.
